Conway The Machine recently dropped his fifth studio album, You Can’t Kill God with Bullets, and he is already following it up with visuals for track #3, “BMG.”
“BMG” is one of the immediate standouts on You Can’t Kill God with Bullets, with Conway rapping his ass off over the Sndtrak & Chri$$ianity production. Lines like “Backed into a corner and life was tryna Golovkin me, yo (Triple G) / I say I’m blessed, they say it’s luck, well, shit, lucky me” hit exactly the way you expect Conway bars to hit. Heavy, reflective, and unapologetic.
Going into it, I expected the video for “BMG” to be something simple, like Conway riding around in a car or posted up somewhere gritty, which would have matched the tone of the record perfectly. Instead, the Keese-directed visual takes a more minimal and abstract approach, with Conway rapping face to face with a smaller version of himself.
Do I fully get it? Not really. But it still looks slick, stays focused on the bars, and does not distract from what Conway is doing best. Rapping at a high level.
